Yann Durieux - Recrue des Sens
Winemaker Yann Durieux makes his wines at home in Messanges, in the Hautes Côte de Nuits in northern Burgundy (21 Côte d’Or). For years he worked at the established winery Prieuré Roch and at Julien Guillot in Mâcon, both ‘fans’ of bio & bio-dynamics. Durieux is still involved as a soil consultant at Prieuré Roch. He has been making wine under his own title for a few years now, he has several small vineyards in the area with chardonnay, pinot noir, and aligoté.
Although his wines come from Burgundy, this should not be on the label. Hence its declassification to Vin de France. Yann’s wines are over-dimensional and very special. Durieux makes natural wine, according to the philosophy ‘nothing added, nothing is taken away. No chaptalization (in Burgundy, with its cooler climate and not always fully ripe grapes, it is very common to add sugar to the must), no enzymes, no cultured yeasts and no sulfites. And the wines are not filtered.
He makes white wine from Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. There is ‘orange’ wine from aligoté (also from pinot gris, available on request) and red from pinot noir, from various vineyards, aged in old or new barrels.
Special producer of very special wines!
