Severe frost in Burgundy early April

2021 vintage starts with tough times for Burgundy producers. Severe frost affected almost Burgundy appellations starting on April 5th. Temperature dropped up to minus 6-7 degrees which affected the buds. Some winemakers were trying to save the wines with burning candles (Cote de Nuits) and straw (Cote de Beaune). I was witnessing this spectacular but sad phenomenum by helping my winemaker friend in Vosne Romanee.

Is this the result of climate change? Probably yes. What will happen for sure there will be much less wine produced in 2021…
