Vintage report 2011
The Early-Blooming "Infant"
The Climate: One of the strangest seasons on record. Spring was hot and dry (summer-like), while July and August were cool and wet (autumn-like). This resulted in an incredibly early harvest (late August).
Côte de Nuits (Red): The wines are "crunchy" and red-fruited (pomegranate, redcurrant) with floral aromatics. They lack the density of 2010 but offer immediate, "savory" pleasure.
Côte de Beaune (White): Very successful. They are lighter and more "citrusy" than the 2009s or 2010s, making them excellent choices for high-end restaurant service where freshness is key.
