The Connoisseur’s Choice

  • The Climate: A difficult, cold winter followed by a cool, damp summer. A small crop was concentrated by a fine, dry September. Small berries with thick skins provided intense color and structure.

  • Côte de Nuits (Red): Elite status. These wines are the polar opposite of 2009—they are chiseled, high-acid, and intensely mineral. They possess a "laser-like" focus and transparency. Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée produced monumental wines.

  • Côte de Beaune (White): Phenomenal precision. These wines are celebrated for their "grapefruit" citrus energy and saline finish. They are built for 20+ years of aging.
