Domaine Georges Noëllat is located in Vosne-Romanée and has ca 7 hectares of vineyards on some of the most prestigious terroirs of the northern Côte de Nuits including Grands Echezaux, Echezaux, Vosne Romanee Petit Monts, Vosne Romanee Beaux Monts, Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes and Nuits Saint Georges LesAux Boudots. Under the leadership of Maxime Cheurlin (MC), the domain has quickly developed into an established domaine within Burgundy, known for wines of great precision and refinement.

The history of the domain is closely intertwined with some of the big names in the region. Georges Noëllat was the nephew of Charles Noëllat, whose original domain would later form the basis for Domaine Leroy and Hudelot-Noëllat, among others. From 1990, the production was sold to Jadot and Drouhin for twenty years, until in 2010 when the only twenty-year-old Maxime Cheurlin took over from his grandmother.

Maxime grew up in Champagne, as his mother is married to Mr. Cheurlin, who runs quite a significant Domaine in Champagne. However he has deep-rooted ties to Burgundy. He is related to the Jayer family and did internships at Domaine Emmanuel Rouget and Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur. Already from his first vintage, his style stood out: wines with striking transparency, elegance and terroir-like character. He is a winemaker talented from his birth.

The vineyards are cultivated according to the principles of lutte raisonnée, with special attention to the old sticks that Maxime inherited. In the basement he works with grape-own yeasts and performs a cool fermentation, resulting in a later malolactic conversion and extra precision in the wines. Vinification is aimed at infusion rather than extraction, with a reluctant use of pigeage. The proportion of new wood varies from 30 to 100 percent, depending on the appellation and harvest year. The wines mature for 14 to 20 months and are usually bottled unfiltered.

In addition to the historic domain, Maxime also releases wines under the name Maxime Cheurlin Noëllat. With this he adds appellations outside Vosne-Romanée, such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chassagne Montrachet, Chambolle Musigny and Clos Vougeot. Recent acqusition of Grand Cru Mazoyeres Chambertin and Premier Crus, Les Sentieres in Chambolle Musigny are already a highlight from the first vintage 2024. His signature always remains recognizable: elegant, refined Pinot Noir with clear expression of origin.

Today, Maxime Cheurlin is no longer seen as a promising talent, but as an established name within Burgundy. Every new year provides wines with even higher grade of balance, purity and sophistication, a style that convincingly reflects the essence of its terroirs.
