Vintage report 2024

The "Summer of Tough Love"

2024 was an exhausting year for growers. It was exceptionally wet with very little sunshine until August. Mildew pressure was the most aggressive in decades, particularly in the Côte de Nuits, where yields for reds were significantly slashed (some domaines lost 50%).

 * The Profile: Stylistically, this is a "perfume" vintage. The wines are slim-textured, delicate, and highly aromatic. They are "Romanesque"—proportioned and grounded rather than sharp-edged. The whites are a standout, described as "salty" and "pithy" with a refreshing bitterness.

 * Regional Note: The Côte de Beaune produced charming, sprightly reds. The Côte de Nuits faced a harder battle with mildew, resulting in wines that are light-bodied and chiffon-textured. They are built for elegance rather than power.
