Vintage report 2015
The Solar Giant
The Climate: A hot, dry year with nearly problem-free conditions. Small, thick-skinned berries resulted in a high skin-to-juice ratio. Early picking was essential to maintain acidity, with some starting as early as August 27.
Côte de Nuits (Red): Magnificent. These are opulent, powerful, and deeply colored wines. Flavors lean toward black cherry and mulberry. Despite the heat, the best wines retain a surprising "vivacity" due to many growers using whole-bunch fermentation.
Côte de Beaune (White): Muscular and broad-shouldered. While less "electric" than the 2014s, they are luscious and generous. They are excellent for mid-term drinking, offering immediate pleasure.
